katie@huichica.com HUICHICA MUSIC FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES 2013 LINE UP HUICHICA MUSIC FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES 2013 MUSIC, FOOD AND WINE LINE UP FEATURING: MUSIC: FOOD: WINE: TICKETS ON SALE FRIDAY APRIL 12, 10AM PST VIA WWW.HUICHICA.COM Sonoma, California—April 11, 2013 On the heels of a successful 2012 that saw the festival add an opening night and a second stage, Huichica organizers are back with the strongest musical line up to date and a list of world class food purveyors. As always, performers for Huichica were invited based on artistic integrity, musical expression, and the key attribute of an ideal Huichica participant, personal approachability. For 2013 that approach was extended to food purveyors. In addition to being recognized near and far as top tier in their respective styles, all participants are down-to-earth and authentically connected to the Huichica vision of being one of most tightly curated and overtly artist and chef friendly festivals in the world. Musical performers in 2013 include Blitzen Trapper, Fruit Bats, Jonathan Wilson, Cass McCombs, Damien Jurado, Jessica Pratt, The Donkeys, White Magic, Floating Action, Marty Marquis, Eric D. Johnson, and DJ Andy Cabic. Restaurants and food purveyors include Bunk Sandwhiches, Salumeria, Namu Gaji, Rancho Gordo, Mike the Bejker, Skylight Snowballs, and the Sonoma Farmer’s Market featuring a selection of local produce, cheese and crafts. Featured estate grown Sonoma wines from Gundlach Bundschu will include 2010 Mountain Cuvee, 2011 Pinot Noir, 2012 Gewurztraminer, and 2010 Merlot. Huichica organizers are also very excited to announce their alignment with two of the San Francisco bay area’s most distinctive cultural voices. (((folkYEAH!))), based in Monterey, Big Sur and San Francisco, is a veteran producer and promoter responsible for some of the most memorable and intimate concerts in recent California history. Swimmingly (http://swimming.ly/) is a pioneer in the rapidly expanding space where independent music and artisanal food culture intersect. Both have lent their considerable expertise to Huichica 2013, and as a result the experience promises to be one the richest and most truly unique yet. The idea for Huichica was born of a chance meet up of vintner Jeff Bundschu and musician, composer and Fruit Bats founder Eric D. Johnson. Bundschu, also a concert producer, had hosted amazing nights with Jonathan Rice, Deer Tick, Ra Ra Riot, among others at his family’s 155 year-old Sonoma winery, Gundlach Bundschu. Johnson, who had performed at some of the most famous mega-festivals in the world, had always envisioned creating a boutique festival in a beautiful natural setting with a unique artist and fan friendly approach. After a Fruit Bats show at the winery, he knew exactly where he wanted to do it. Now in its fourth year, the Huichica Music Festival in Sonoma, California is the embodiment of a new breed of festival—stunning location, hand-chosen lineup of music, food and wine, celebrated by artists and fans alike.
